Remember I told you that I LOVE the smell of a newly renovated library? Well, I discovered yet another one in the city! The Golden Gate Valley branch recently reopened. The building was built in 1917 and the high vaulted ceilings are worth checking out. Only problem: kids’ section (a rather tiny space) is on the same floor as the adult and teen section which means you’ll have to keep your kids quiet. The Bernal, Noe Valley, Richmond, and Sunset branches all have the children section on a floor all its own!

When thinking of all things Rio, I realized it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t mention his favorite restaurant. Rio loves going to Boston Market for the chicken, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese (whole meal is under five bucks). We’ve tried going to nicer restaurants to order the healthier versions of this meal with not much success (probably because most of their dishes have a ton of sodium in them). Did you know that it used to be owned by McDonald’s (I’m not surprised!)?

Rio already does most of these things on his own, now I figure we’ll make it more formal and start teaching him the value of earning $$. He needs to put his shoes away, place his laundry in the hamper, brush his teeth, water the tree, eat dinner, and put shoes away. He gets a dime per card and can cash out on the weekends. We already tried it last week and he pretty much earned the entire amount allotted. Eating (he is a fussy eater) and putting his toys away are the hardest ones to earn!

Its all things Rio this week on Mexichica! This week is Rio’s 4th birthday and I am going to feature my favorite super hero (Rio) all week long. Stay tuned!
Neighborhood Walk: Fillmore
I love walking in the Fillmore neighborhood (Fillmore covers a 10-block area beginning on Geary). It is the epicenter of San Francisco’s jazz music. My favorite second hand store happens to be on this street too! Fillmore is filled with unique shops and chic restaurants. I took a stroll through the shops and a small alley. There is a quiet bench where you can sit and ponder life (or, in my case, breastfeed the baby). Walk through parking lot of St. Dominic’s Church and you can’t miss this peaceful oasis in the center of the lot. Finding a parking spot around this neighborhood is tough but there are 2 hour street parking spots off of Fell St.

I love all x-mas music. KOIT has been playing holiday music for over a week now and I am loving it (Ryan is already sick of it). You can listen to it at 96.5 FM radio or online. (I made my little holiday greeting with a couple of pipe cleaners.)
